New Zealand’s top dog friendly glamping retreats

Nestled in a few of New Zealand’s verdant valleys you’ll come across many of our favourite dog-friendly glamping retreats. No staycation is complete without bringing your dog along for the experience so we’ve hand-selected New Zealand’s top dog friendly glamping retreats for you to explore. Leave the sleeping bags, night lights and gas cookers at home, this is luxury ‘camping’ at its finest, fit with outdoor baths, woodfires and plush bedding.

Little Rock – Canterbury

Retreat to this secluded patch of paradise where you’ll find yourself accompanied by some friendly fantails and the gentle whisper of the river nearby. Surrounded by trees and ferns, you can take cover at the leaning bar with a homemade cocktail or glass of wine while you immerse yourselves in nature. Let the evening pass you by, snuggled up by the woodfire before slipping into a queen-size bed in the midst of the tree canopy. Perfect for every season, Little Rock offers cute open-plan accommodation with a bathroom and kitchenette as well as an outdoor bath.

My husband and I loved our stay at Little Rock. Jody & Alan were the best hosts and we were sad we couldn’t stay longer! It was a true privilege to take our furbaby with us, and she absolutely loved it too! Hopefully, we’ll be back again one day soon!

You can pack light as the Love Bus has everything you need for a blissful stay, equipped with a kitchen and gas cooktop, the owners have even gone so far as to include some candles for your candlelit dinner and an extra duvet in winter for ultimate slumber.

Your home away from home, with all the extras but none of the stress. Nestled amongst Olive trees, the Bothy is far from its basic Scottish hut namesake. The off-grid riverside cabin is the perfect escape for you and your four-legged friend. With some coastal walks, scenic lookouts and white sandy beaches right on the doorstep there’s no wonder Riverside Escape’s River Bothy has such a special place in our hearts. Waipu Glamping – Bream Bay

When we think of glamping our minds immediately turn to a safari tent with all the luxuries of a soft bed, cheese platters on the deck and long, hot soaks in the open air. Waipu Glamping ticks ALL of those boxes and most importantly, it’s perfect for furry plus ones. On arrival, you will find a welcome basket with fresh homemade bread, a s’mores kit and chocolates (where do we book?). Waipu Glamping is located on a lifestyle property overlooking beautiful native bush with every detail accounted for. We’d recommend this one for families and couples alike.

“What an awesome spot. Quiet, peaceful and still. It has everything you could need, 10 mins away from the shops/beach, but sufficiently tucked away that you wouldn’t know. The outdoor bath is something special on a clear night.”
